How Bout an Award?

It's funny, since I've started blogging, I've definitely started making other new blogging friends that I feel like I would totally click with in real life! There are some amazing people out there. This girl is one of them. I was nominated for the Liebster Award by cute Shambray from shambray.com. Thanks so much girl! Go visit her blog, love her ideas and happy life! I will go ahead and do my part on this by answering the questions she asked me.

1. What made you want to start a blog? I wanted to start this blog because when I first became a mom, I really struggled. Struggled so much that I didn't even trust myself with my own baby. I decided that instead of feeling sorry for myself and feeling inadequate, I had to do something about it. I knew that there were other moms out there who felt the same way. I figure if we can join forces and help each other out then I've done my job. I think moms need a sisterhood or support group.

2. How did you choose your blog name? I actually created the group on Facebook before creating this blog and I called it "The Mamahood" group. I got the name from the movie Raising Helen where when she has to take on 3 kids and she's exhausted but loving it, her neighbor says "Welcome to The Mamahood."

3.  How long have you been blogging? I've always had a personal blog probably for the past 5 years or so to use as a journal type thing, but The Mamahood group started when my son was born so that I could ask other moms questions on facebook, and this blog was created this summer when I moved to Texas and felt the need to reach out to other new moms who might be struggling with the adjustment.

4.  What is your favorite post or project that you are most proud of? Because this is a community blog, I love spotlighting moms and hearing their stories. I think Monday Mama Moment is my fav so far!

5.  What is your dream travel destination? I've lived in Africa for a short time, and would go back in a heart beat to see my cute kids over there that I worked with. Miss them everyday.

6.  What is your favorite part in your house? Hmmm... i'm no interior designer, but I would have to say my pallet shelf that I wanted to make while I was pregnant and my sister surprised me with it last year for Christmas since my babe was born 4 days before! See exhibit A and B.

7.  What is something you would change about your house? I'm currently working on some curtains for the nursery... please bless they turn out!;)

8.  What is your guilty pleasure? Ice cream in bed:/ I could have a Reese's blizz from DQ any day.

9.  What is your favorite book? I just recently started to enjoy reading and LOVE Nie Nie's book. She's wonderful.

10.  What is something you do to make life easier for you? Oh man, this one is tricky... I haven't really thought about that before. I would say brush my hair in the shower while the conditioner is in so that it's easier to brush through when you get out. But for a more depth answer, I would have to say prayer is what is keepin me alive, sane and makes life a whole lot easier, folks. I would be lost without the Man upstairs helping me be a mom that's for sure!

{Love Notes} Mountains to Climb

I know I've been sharing a lot of videos lately, but this one is a must see. If you are having a hard day or season in your life, here's to you:

I absolutely love this video. There are a few individuals in my family who are going through some serious trials right now. I hate being so far away from home, but I know that the Savior has promised angels and when everything seems to fall, He will hold us. I believe that with all my heart.

I've often wondered why good things happen to bad people. It is always a question that passes through my mind when I hear of the most faithful people going through the hardest trial. I've come to learn that the Lord doesn't inflict trials upon us, but He has to allow it to happen. So often you hear that Christ understands our pain, but I think we face trials are so that we can come to understand Him. And what we go through is only but a fraction of what he endured.

I'm so grateful for the knowledge I have and the examples of faith I have in my life. President Hinckley always taught us growing up that "Everything will be okay in the end, if it's not okay, it's not the end."

True that. Hang in there if you are struggling today. It will be okay in the end!

Monday Mama Moment

This week's Mama Moment brought to you by the one and only Loriel. She is 34 weeks pregnant with a baby boy and I love what she has to say about it! P.S. this girl is a total babe!

"...Pregnancy is a partnership with God. I have spent many many hours of this pregnancy praying for strength, comfort, and understanding in how I can be the best Mama God wants me to be. It's a scary, beautiful thing, but I can't wait to meet this baby boy."

{Love Notes} You Are Doing Terrifically Well

Today I stumbled across this talk and my eyes created puddles on the floor. It's too good not to share.

This is the whole purpose behind why I wanted to start this blog. So many young (or old) mothers struggle and need the Savior's help. Whether we are in the middle of caring for an infant, toddler, teen, adult, or even those who aren't yet mothers that have a role in any child's life...this applies to all.

I love when he says:

"...It is clear that some of those Rhode Island-sized shadows (under mother's eyes) come not just from diapers and carpooling but from at least a few sleepless nights spent searching the soul, seeking earnestly for the capacity to raise these children to be what God wants them to be. Moved by that kind of devotion and determination, may I say to mothers collectively, in the name of the Lord, you are magnificent. You are doing terrifically well."

I think sometimes we just need to be told that.

Being a mom is the best and hardest thing I've ever done in my life. My heart has smiled the biggest, but also cried the hardest. I know that I still have lots of good and bad days ahead, but with His help, we can do it. If I can help even just one mom realize that, then I've done my job.

I know there are lots of other moms who struggle like I do. So if you're reading this and have had one of those hard days I've talked about... I echo what Holland said:
